Kristi is from the Northern half of the state and Dan is from the eastern half. We both love Michigan and Kalamazoo especially. When we are not chasing after any of our 5 kids, we love to spend time reading, traveling and being on or near water.

Both of us love to cook- therefore we appreciate having the right tools for the job. We never could find a local business where a home cook could get professional level sharpening. Soon enough we bought our first whetstone, followed by a guided rod system, followed by many hours at the literal grindstone. Proving yet again that necessity is the mother of invention, BKS was born.

Pearl is the oldest of our two dogs. Always up for meeting new people but has a rather stoic personality at home. According to Veda, Pearl is the source of all joy and goodness in the world and the best living thing in all of creation.

Veda is affectionate and loving but extremely shy and a bit fearful around new people. She is also afraid of new things, new noises and some oxygen molecules. She is an acolyte of Pearl and this gives Pearl great consternation
Veda will never sharpen customers' knives.
